Choosing Interior Painting Colors

Choosing Interior Painting Colors

Many factors are involved in choosing the right colors for interior painting, and every homeowner should take each one into account. No matter what his/her level of familiarity with interior painting and design, we at DeVuono Painting Services are here to help every step of the way.

The “mood” of a room should always be considered. For a bedroom, for example, is the desired mood more dramatic or intimate? Strong colors tend to represent a “dramatic” feel, while softer, cooler colors are naturally more intimate.

Lighting is perhaps the most important factor when choosing interior colors for your home. There are three things to remember: incandescent lights bring out warmer tones, especially yellows; the tones cast by fluorescent lighting tend to be sharp blue; and natural daylight always shows the “truest” colors. On a subconscious level, brighter colors can potentially contribute to irritability or unrest if applied in certain areas, so don’t hesitate to consult with a painting contractor to determine where they are most suitable.

“Hue” is, generally, another word for “color;” the “value” of a hue refers to its lightness or darkness. Saturation describes a hue’s dominance; when going from red to pink, for example, the saturation decreases. Intensity refers to a color’s “brilliance;” a pure color, such as a red, has greater intensity than a combined color, such as yellow-green.In particularly-active spaces, stronger colors with high intensity are recommended.

We at DeVuono Painting offer high-quality professional service in all types of commercial and residential painting, both interior and exterior.
